Excerpt From “Learning To Flow In The Holy Ghost”
In one of my former schools, Ghana National College, they had a club for Christians called the Scripture Union.
Once a week on a particular evening before our night studies, many Christians gathered in the lecture theatre to worship, pray and fellowship.
I had several visions in my first few years of becoming a Christian. I would often use the following scripture in prayer, and the Lord would show me things in visions; however, this might not work the same way for you;
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Jeremiah 33:3 KJV
I would say to the Lord, “your word says if I call upon you, you will answer, so I am calling upon you now and asking you to show me great and mighty things.”
Some people would probably apply that scripture to mean something else, but I wanted to know if Yeshua and spiritual things were real.
I came from a country dominated by atheism. Periodically I slipped into skepticism about my newfound faith, so I needed reassuring evidence that I wasn’t hallucinating and God gave it to me.
As a young believer, someone told me, “for the unbeliever seeing is believing, but for the Christian, believing is seeing.” So I believed what I read in the bible so that I could see.
The Vision
One evening while we prayed and worshipped in the Scripture Union meeting, a group of students among us wanted to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
As those seeking for this baptism went to the front of the lecture theatre for prayer, I fervently prayed my usual prayer based on Jeremiah 33:3. I sat on one of the benches and rested my forehead on my arms which were on the desk in front of me to cover my eyes from the distractions in the room.
I wanted not only to hear but to see from heaven’s perspective.
When people usually close their eyes, they can still sense light bursting through their eyelids as it pours in from a source in a room. But as I prayed it was as if someone suddenly placed virtual reality goggles over my eyes and things got much darker, then it was as if I was at the movies. I saw people shaped in the form of transparent glass vessels. The students received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but I saw them in a vision being filled with water.
The bible is full of scriptures that use water as a type of the Holy Spirit who infills the believer at the point of the baptism. But after this baptism what are we supposed to do to flow in the power of the Lord?
